FAQ's

What is drainage jetting?

Drainage jetting is a highly effective process used to clear blockages in drains and pipes. It involves using high pressure water jets to blast away debris, grease and other obstructions ensuring that the drainage system runs smoothy.

How does a septic tank work?

A septic tank is an underground chamber made of concrete , fibreglass or plastic. It collects waste from your toilets, baths and sinks and separates the solids from the liquids. Heavy solid waste will sink to the bottom of the tank while fats , oil and grease will float at the top creating a layer of scum. Fluid wastewater is what is found between the sludge and scum. The fluid wastewater will drain from the tank naturally while the sludge at the bottom of your tank needs to be removed manually.

How often should I empty my septic tank?

This really depends on the size of your tank and how many people live in the property. Some tanks need emptied every year while others can last up to four. We will be able to advise you on site an average of how often you should be emptying your tank.

How much does it cost to empty?

This depends on location. We cover the whole of Scotland and the isles, so we price to suit the area we cover. We have no hidden fees and don’t charge for milage or disposal of your waste like other companies. We give you one set price. We only charge VAT on commercial properties so if you have a domestic septic tank your price will be 0%VAT

How do I know if my tank needs emptied?

If you have been experiencing issues such as bad smells , the tank overflowing from the lid or your sinks/toilets/showers backing up or making ‘gurgling’ sounds this is usually a tell-tale sign that something is wrong.

Where do you empty a septic tank?

We will attend and use our pipes attached to our lorry to suck the waste from your septic tank into our tanker lorry. Your tank is usually located in your garden or near to your property outside. We then take your waste and empty it off at one of the Scottish water treatment plants located around Scotland. It then goes through a series of stages including testing, screening and filtration to ensure any harmful chemicals are removed. These stages are done at the highest of standards to ensure no damage is caused to the environment. Only licienced waste disposal carriers have contracts with the treatment facilities to ensure legal and environmentally responsible disposal of waste

What customers are saying

" I had an emergency with my sceptic tank, Sam arrived just couple hours later. As it occurred it was stubborn blockage rather than full tank. He managed to get that unblocked and emptied on Friday afternoon.

He saved us from mega problems just before big party on Saturday.
Can't praise this guy enough! "
David Potok - Strathdon

" After realising that my septic tank needed to be emptied urgently, I called around all central Scotland, no one could help. I eventually found G50 Waste Management. Sam managed to book me in the next day. Already by speaking to Sam on the phone I realised that I would be happy with him. On arrival I asked him kindly to avoid any mess on the grass as I have two dogs that could get the idea of rolling in it. I definitely wouldn't have needed to ask for that as it was very clear that he has some excellent routines to avoid that to any client. Sam was great from start to finish and I'm definitely using him the next time. "
Nikolai - Crieff

" Sam & Mirren were both an absolute pleasure to deal with. They are a small, family run business based in Scotland. They were very quick to provide a competitive quote, and provided a date to de-sludge my septic tank at short notice. Sam arrived in good time on the day, and was extremely well mannered, helpful and patient. I would not hesitate to recommend G50 to anyone, and will definitely use their services again in the future.
